Ms. Rebecca Gilbert has joined EI as the head of our new cultural resources department. Becky is a senior archaeologist with a decade of experience with major utilities and state run agencies. Becky spent the last 2 years at Southern California Edison (SCE) as a technical specialist within their archaeology division. While at SCE, she oversaw projects that included routine Operations and Maintenance on public lands, California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) GO-131D reviews, CPUC licensing projects, and development of Environmental Assessments. Prior to SCE, she was an associate environmental planner (archaeology) in the archaeological department at the California Department of Water Resources (DWR). While at DWR she was the lead archaeologist that oversaw reviews to support CEQA and Section 106 compliance. Becky’s experience with consultants, state agencies, and large bureaucratic businesses will be a cornerstone to the new cultural group. Her technical experience, staff management, and entrepreneurial spirit will make sure that EI build a best in industry cultural practice.
“I am so happy to have this opportunity to join EI. I have worked with EI over the past few years and when they asked me to join the team, I jumped at the opportunity. EI is a leader in the biological and natural resources services and now we will be able to add archaeology and cultural disciplines to our resources to better serve our clients.”
David Levine, EI’s Principal and CEO commented, “This is a natural progression of the growth at EI. When we set our three year business plan earlier this year, the addition of a cultural resources department was a main driver of our growth. Becky will be instrumental in leading and growing this new department. We are excited to continue to grow our business with targeted focus on complimentary natural resource disciplines which will better support our clients.”
Becky has a Bachelor’s of Science in Anthropology with Cultural Resource Management emphasis from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and a Masters of Art in Anthropology with an Archaeology emphasis from the University of California, Davis. She is a member of the Society for California Archaeology. Please help us welcome Becky to EI. She can be reached via email at rebeccagilbert@enviro-intel.com.
